Each soldier also created specialized collecting tools. Private droids and creatures that followed them as they plundered and scavenged were invaluable sources of information for battles and ambushes. A pesky old tool called a pulse droid would listen for enemy activity at night, or a backpack of items called a battle pack contained things like lightsabers and blaster pistols. Familiarizing oneself with a battle pack could mean survival in the field, but a backpack full of valuable but untrained stockpiles were the source of conflict and deadly accidents. Batteries, spare parts, and other vital items could be exchanged or traded for credits and medals, or simply nabbed at the nose of the pathfinder (which no longer moved in the game, although the new pathfinder Droid can be used to jump over obstacles). With access to these items, a trooper could truly work at the level they were most comfortable at. Few clones were comfortable with repairing droid droids, but it was a skill that many of them picked up quickly. Recharging or reprogramming droids still required a technician with the proper tools and skill, however.
As the battle for Geonosis wore on, the clone commands limited calls for more reinforcements. In addition, the loss of the Trade Federation Droid Division caused the clone armies to begin to fall apart. Many of the clones that had been sent to Geonosis before the Trade Federation Droid Corps were shipped to the Outer Rim Territories. New companies of clone commandos and technicians, particularly those with experience in the wilds of the Outer Rim, began coming up through the ranks of the commandos, military academies, and academies of technology. They were supplemented by new recruits from newly trained clone debuts, and by the addition of new droid companies as well.
The battles on Geonosis produced hundreds of vehicles, including the well-known AAT, AT-ST, TIE Fighter, AT-AT, Z-95 Headhunter, and B-F Series Pilots. Vehicles ranged from standard infantry transports, all the way to massive sledgehammer-equipped TIE Fighters. d2c66b5586
