How to Complete the PT Activity 8.6.1 CCNA Skills Integration Challenge
The PT Activity 8.6.1 CCNA Skills Integration Challenge is a comprehensive lab that tests your skills in configuring various networking technologies, such as PPP, eBGP, NAT, DHCP, EIGRP, inter-VLAN routing, and switch security. In this lab, you will configure a network for the XYZ Corporation that consists of four routers, three switches, and four PCs. You will also configure WAN connections using PPP and eBGP, as well as NAT and PAT for Internet access. You will use EIGRP for IPv4 routing within the network and apply ACLs to filter traffic. You will also configure VLANs and trunking on the switches and secure them with SSH and port security.
To complete this lab successfully, you need to follow these steps:
Download the PT Activity 8.6.1 CCNA Skills Integration Challenge.pka file from here [^3^] or from your instructor.
Open the file with Packet Tracer and examine the topology and the addressing table.
Configure PPP encapsulation and authentication on the WAN links between HQ and the Internet, and between HQ and NewB. Use CHAP for the Internet link and PAP for the NewB link.
Configure eBGP between HQ and the Internet router. Advertise the 192.0.2.0/24 network to the Internet.
Configure dynamic NAT on HQ using a standard ACL named NAT and a pool named HQ. Use PAT for overload.
Configure DHCP on HQ for the Staff, Sales, and IT subnets using the addresses given in the addressing table.
Configure EIGRP for IPv4 on HQ, B1, B2, and NewB using AS number 100. Advertise all connected networks.
Configure inter-VLAN routing on HQ using subinterfaces for each VLAN.
Configure VLANs and trunking on S1, S2, and S3 according to the VLAN configurations and port mappings table.
Configure SSH access on S1, S2, and S3 using Ciscoenpa55 as the password.
Configure port security on S1, S2, and S3 to allow only one MAC address per port and shut down the port if a violation occurs.
Configure an ACL named WEB_ACCESS on HQ to allow only the IT subnet to access the Web server on port 80.
Apply the ACL to the appropriate interface in the appropriate direction.
Test your configurations by pinging between different devices and using show commands to verify your settings.
Congratulations! You have completed the PT Activity 8.6.1 CCNA Skills Integration Challenge.
The PT Activity 8.6.1 CCNA Skills Integration Challenge is a great way to practice and assess your skills in configuring various networking technologies. By completing this lab, you will learn how to configure PPP and eBGP for WAN connections, NAT and PAT for Internet access, DHCP for dynamic address assignment, EIGRP for IPv4 routing, inter-VLAN routing for subnetting, and switch security for preventing unauthorized access. You will also learn how to use ACLs to filter traffic based on source and destination addresses and ports.
This lab is designed to simulate a real-world scenario where you need to configure a network for a company that has multiple branches and needs to connect to the Internet and a data center. You will use Packet Tracer as a tool to create and test your configurations. Packet Tracer is a network simulation software that allows you to create and manipulate network devices and protocols. You can use Packet Tracer to design, configure, troubleshoot, and test networks without using physical equipment.
To complete this lab successfully, you need to have a basic understanding of the following topics:
PPP encapsulation and authentication
eBGP configuration and advertisement
NAT and PAT configuration and operation
DHCP configuration and operation
EIGRP for IPv4 configuration and operation
Inter-VLAN routing configuration and operation
VLANs and trunking configuration and operation
SSH configuration and operation
Port security configuration and operation
ACL configuration and operation
