Cisco’s IOS® Switch Software has the ability to run the new Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series Switches. This software allows for the provisioning services, virtualization, and configuration of the 9000 Series switches.
The 7200 Series allows switches to be automated with the benefit of a centralized management console. The CLI provides comprehensive access to all switch interfaces on a managed system and is used to provision, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the switch.
Any of these solutions can be utilized in a 2 tier protection model such as client-server or 2 appliance model using firmware 2.8 or higher to interface to one or more Backup Exec Servers (BES).
In the course of our studies, we came across the following question. If you have a requirement to send a json string over a Tcp connection using netcat how does one send the byte stream of a json string embedded in the stream from the browser to a server?
The command-line interface (CLI) specification is a manual for command-line programmers. Information is exchanged between a command-line host and a command-line client through a system of strings. The CLI specification defines each of those strings. The CLI specification does not define a specific string format. However, most good CLI programs employ some kind of error checking.
The open community surrounding the CLI specification stands just as tall as the specification itself. Depending upon the implementation, an instructor may find a CLI interface is a great way to teach the command-line. Alternatively, an instructor may find a GUI interface a more user-friendly way. Both ways (GUI or CLI) have their pros and cons. Learn more about our CLI resources from a previous blog that looks at managing a Cisco device using a CLI: Managing a Cisco Comdialer with a GUI - Using a CLI for a More Efficient Networking Experience.
